Warranty for used pianos
Maintenance
If we have sold you a piano, please be aware that it is of the highest quality. However, it is a handcrafted instrument with many components sensitive to wear and temperature and humidity fluctuations. Over time and seasons, it is normal for certain parts to require replacement or adjustment, which is not indicative of a manufacturing defect.
Tuning
To maintain your instrument in the condition in which we sold it to you, we recommend having it tuned by a certified PIANO VERTU technician at least once a year, or else we may not be able to honor our warranty. Depending on the environment in which it is placed, your piano may require two or more tunings per year. The use of a technician not authorized by PIANO VERTU may void the warranty.
Humidity
The ambient humidity in the room where your piano is located should be maintained between 40% and 55%.If such a stable humidity level cannot be maintained, a humidification system will need to be installed in the room where the piano is placed. It is even preferable to have a humidity control system specially designed for the instrument placed inside your piano. For more details, please inquire with one of our advisors.
Heat
It is imperative to keep your piano away from any direct heat source (heating, household appliances, fireplace, etc.). Furthermore, it is highly recommended to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, which can greatly affect the condition of the piano's finish, paint, and wood. When the instrument is not used for extended periods, it is advisable to cover it with a suitable cover or, at the very least, to close the action and key covers. If you need to touch the strings or any other bare metal parts of the piano (untreated), it is necessary to wear gloves to prevent contamination or corrosion due to natural hand oils and moisture.
Cleaning
To preserve the appearance of your piano, it is important to protect it from dust and scratches. To clean it, use a soft, non-abrasive, dry cloth. Microfiber cloths are preferred; other types of textiles, even if they feel soft to the touch, such as cotton or paper towels, can still scratch the delicate finish of the instrument. It is also important not to place anything on top of the piano: books, knick-knacks, or especially plants all pose risks to the preservation of the piano's condition.
Sales Conditions
All used acoustic pianos sold by PIANO VERTU are covered by a limited warranty on parts and labor, protecting you against manufacturing defects for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase.
We do everything in our power to ensure that your piano is delivered without issues and properly adjusted:
- Before delivery, a PIANO VERTU technician will inspect your acoustic piano. Our pianos include at least one free tuning to be claimed within 18 months of purchase. If the included tuning is not claimed within 18 months of the purchase date, it will be forfeited. Allow the piano to acclimate to its new environment after a move; we recommend scheduling the first tuning at least two weeks after the initial delivery. Pianos should be checked and tuned at least once a year, or else the warranty may be voided. If you would like one of our technicians to tune your piano outside of the included tunings, please inquire with one of our advisors.
- Additionally, any travel outside our normal service area by a technician will incur additional fees. Regular tunings, adjustments, checkups, voicing, optimizing, and work on the piano's silent system are not included in used pianos. Delivery is included within a 50 km radius of our store (100 km round trip). Additional delivery fees depend on the distance to your home or establishment, as well as any on-site challenges. Additional fees may apply for logistical challenges, such as maneuvering in a stairwell, complex handling, or the rental of a crane. Furthermore, any subsequent moves must be performed by movers recognized by PIANO VERTU, as failure to do so may void the warranty.
- No electronic system within the piano is covered by the warranty. Therefore, we adjust sale prices accordingly. As such, any used piano sold by PIANO VERTU with an electronic system is provided as-is, at no additional cost, but without a warranty. Pianos and accessories are final sale.
Limited Warranty

Repairs may be made with new or refurbished parts that meet or exceed the manufacturer's specifications for new parts. This warranty does not cover (a) damage, deterioration, or operational issues resulting from an accident, negligence, misuse, abuse, improper installation, or operation, or failure to follow the owner's manual instructions for this product; any damage due to shipping of the product (claims must be presented to the carrier) or repair/attempted repair by anyone other than PIANO VERTU or a PIANO VERTU authorized technician; (b) any unit or instrument that has been modified or had the serial number altered, defaced, or removed; (c) normal wear and periodic maintenance; (d) deterioration due to perspiration, corrosive atmosphere, or other external causes such as extremes in temperature or humidity; (f) strings, tuning pins, hammers, and casters on stringed instruments; [...] Any evidence of alteration, erasure, or forgery of the proof of This warranty covers the first owner of the piano for the applicable limited period of original warranty with original proof of purchase.
