Artur Chakhmakhchyan, violin
The Armenian-Canadian violinist Artur Chakhmakhchyan made his solo orchestral debut with the Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015. Artur has performed as a concert soloist with orchestras in Toronto, given several solo recitals in Toronto and Montreal, and participated in masterclasses with renowned violinists such as James Ehnes, Noah Bendix-Balgley, and Michael Frischenschlager. Artur was interviewed by the 'HotDocs Festival' in 2021 and 'The Strad Magazine', and he is currently a three-time recipient of the performing arts scholarship from the Armenian General Benevolent Union, as well as a recent recipient of the “Edik Hovsepian Performing Arts Scholarship”. Artur holds a graduate diploma in performance and a master's degree in music from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, as well as a bachelor's degree in music from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory. Currently, Artur works as a substitute violinist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
